Rebranding, Yet Again…
I know how rapidly I’ve been evolving already, but I feel like it is time to yet again announce a rebranding, for the necessarily simpler basis this time. I am planning to rebrand my blog and channel into "Mikail Afridi’s Chronicles of Earth" (the name embodying both the natural world from the prehistoric to today in a creative fashion). Under this name, I will aim to educate the public (of general demographic) about natural history with content of a creative personal flair, from my hobby of palaeoart and adventures in nature to my blogposts and uniquely-created videos about such, a bit like the PNSO company. "Mikailodon" will still exist as a fun little diminutive to refer to me, such as in my YouTube handle and website URL, though the hybrid dinosaur I imagined and named it after has become unnecessary in this respect and so will no longer be a mascot. The nostalgic VHS aesthetic I promised may continue in my videos to a degree however. I want to focus on a style of uplifting simplicity, like those good old Mr. Men books, and so I am to isolate myself completely from that dark, social media-based palaeontological community I shouldn’t have dug into those few years ago. It isn’t actually as akin to a scientific community as much as it is to a high-schooler’s heated gaming community on Twitter, and it is really only little compared to the grandiose public of all ages who admire dinosaurs, that is the actual palaeontology community I’ll focus on in general, and so I want to be more independent in that case. The website might have some changes aside the rebranding, but it might not be so different aside from a colour change and some cleaning up of the pages.
I am also thinking of the possibility of returning to Discord, but on even more limits, and only inhabiting a unique server I would call "Mikail’s Natural History Board." It would be much different from the previous server, and be more like a classic message board than a traditional gaming Discord server, of course for talking about natural history, but also great for sharing ideas and critique about reconstructions of the prehistoric, being a devoted palaeoartist myself. The server will be more personal and will possibly be more securely private than the last to prevent unwanted people, behaviour and misunderstanding from the darker palaeontology community that had poisoned it, although I still don’t know what would be a good degree of publicity, though it will at least be a personal server for my friends. Rules may also be stricter (but for good) to keep the vibe stable. On my last days on Discord, I had only been active for once an hour in every two days, and I will probably keep to a similar routine on my return. Unfortunately though, the elephant in the room is clearing up the past on Discord, which would be a very nerve-wrecking job that intimidates me. Keep in mind that it won’t be until I have completely healed from my "mental extinction" that I will have executed these changes, as for now I need to be well off social media to regain my confidence, and even after will I not dive as deep as before into it (and I might not even come back on Instagram), which is also another reason for the simplicity of this new form of my social media. Thank you all.
Side note; we now have a dog, specifically a chow chow we rescued from the neighbouring house after some temporary family (after our loved previous neighbours left) left forever without her, and our recent cat named Snowball has reared some new kittens. They are very sweet, and I’ve loved to monitor them since I first was met with the surprise. :)
